No I in me
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21 NKJV) That there is no I in me is the sum of my calling and my striving.
Currently in American society, lawless acts, social unrest, and lewd behavior are omnipresent and will not abate until God reigns supreme in the hearts of all people. For it is written in Psalms 121:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” A godless land is one of ruin.
Unfortunately, so many men have been blind for so long that darkness now lights their way. When these men stumble, they say I am steadfast, sturdy, and sure in my soul. These are people concerned with being correct or having the correct beliefs, dogma. Theirs is I trouble. They choose sides and defend the religious principles that fit their politics. It is enough, say they, to help orphans, widows, and the oppressed; there is no need to consider the plight of the unborn. It is enough, say others, to defend marriage, a holy union, and give alms; there is no need to consider my brother or the stranger within our land. Both sides err because you cannot do the gospel halfway. It is all or nothing. You are for the Lord or for His adversary. Remember Phinehas. The Bible that says “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3 NKJV), is the same book that says “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16 NKJV) and “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 10:17-19 NKJV)
Let us humbly consider our way, saints! Our beliefs ought to stem from the Lord’s word. Bigotry is wickedness because the Lord said it is. “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.” (1 John 4:20-21 NKJV) And marriage is sacred because the Lord ordained it so. (He condemned Sodom and Gomorrah, the Spirit speaks.) “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV) Therefore, let us be followers of the Lord rather than followers of ourselves.
“He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”” (Luke 12:1 NKJV) Amen.
